about

as early as 2002, brothers will & tom greenstock were eager to find an opportunity to develop a venture of their own and put to good use the skills learned under their parents at the howard arms in ilmington.  in late 2004 that opportunity presented itself in the form of the horse and groom.

this grade 2 listed georgian building of honey coloured cotswold stone bursting with character and original period features, enjoys spectacular views over the surrounding landscape from its hill top setting.  with private parking and a large garden to the rear it almost seemed too good to be true.  will & tom jumped at it, and in july 2005 set about injecting their own passion and pride into creating a lively new venue for drinkers, diners, and overnight guests which is already enjoying a reputation for quality and building a loyal following of customers.
